PUMA has sneakers for many, many sports. In fact, if you can think of any sport you need sneakers for, chances are PUMA has a sport shoe for you. Starting in 1924, Rudolf and his younger brother, Adolf had created Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory in Germany in their mother’s house. The factory specialized in spiked footwear for athletic events. The brothers gained fame when they convinced Jesse Owens to wear a pair of Dassler spike shoes for his gold medal win at the 1936 Olympics. Then, at age 50, Rudolf and Adolf got into a terrible quarrel and parted ways. Rudolf Dassler went on to create the brand, PUMA. This fierce and fast brand was founded in 1948 --a direct competitor to the brand his brother then built, adidas. Rudolf died in 1974. PUMA is currently the third largest sportswear manufacturer in the world, second to adidas and third to Nike
